EFFAT Event - Mobile and Migrant Workers: What’s the Road ahead for their Protection in Europe?

Dear colleagues,

We are pleased to invite you to the EFFAT Event “Mobile and Migrant Workers: What’s the road ahead for their protection in Europe?”, organised also with the support of Faire Mobilitӓt.

The event will take place on Wednesday, 31 May 2023 in the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) from 09:00 to 16:00.

Representing millions of workers in European Agriculture, Food processing, Tourism and Domestic work, EFFAT is a long-standing advocate for the rights and protection of mobile and migrant workers, who make up a significant proportion of those harvesting our fields, packing and processing our food, as well as those cleaning our houses or allowing the hospitality sector to run. Unfortunately, while their activities are crucial to the good functioning of our societies, the rights of these workers are often neglected, and their working conditions amongst the most precarious in Europe.

The event will be an important occasion to promote EFFAT’s EFFAT’s vision & demands with the EU Institutions in view of next year European elections. Commissioner Nicolas Schmit and key MEPs have already confirmed their attendance.
